Hey there, my name is Lynne and I'm the owner and head trainer and canine behavior specialist for Blazing Trails K9 Academy. We service the Uintah Basin in Utah as well as offer live virtual options all over the world. We also offer premium board and train services with exclusive concierge training services in Park City, Heber, and throughout the state of Utah.
I have been training dogs since 1985 when I started with my first dog Rusty, a dog aggressive Doberman. I was told get it fixed, or get rid of him, and the rest is history! Since that time, I have worked in a wide variety of venues, everything from when I worked with exotic animals at Six Flags Magic Mountain in the animal show, to when I worked as a studio animal trainer where I trained and handled dogs on sets for TV, movies, print ads and live stage shows. I have been head trainer and assistant manager for a facility in Beverly Hills CA, and a facility trainer at California K9 where we worked with a lot of celebrity clients, providing high level protection dogs and I worked with top level competition trainers from all over the world.
I have been a trainer of trainers while I worked for Animal Behavior College as an externship coordinator, and in their continuing education and certification department, I worked on major curricula for training trainers, and have been a long-time mentor trainer while I assisted in training up the next generation of trainers.
I am also a CGC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and can judge AKC trick dog titles.
I decided that for certification I didn't just want a certificate of completion, I wanted the highest levels of criteria to prove my skill sets, so I went with certification with not just ONE trainer organization, but two. I have an IACP CDT and am certified with NADOI (which is the longest run trainer organization in the US and the only one to require rigorous testing to even be a member. )
I have also been active in competition dog sports, dabbling in herding, agility, conformation, and then being very active in what was then Schutzhund (now IGP) and WDA. These are considered the triathlon in the dog training world, the dogs must excel in tracking, obedience and protection. I completed multiple high titles with multiple high in trial wins with multiple dogs over the course of 20 years in that sport, and ran a dog club to help others also achieve their competition goals, many with high in trial wins.
I opened Blazing Trails K9 Academy in 2000 and since then, have worked with not just hundreds, but thousands of dogs and their owners to help them achieve their training goals.
What does this all mean to you? What if you don't want a competition dog or a movie dog? Well the skills I gained throughout my career have made it so I can train quickly, effectively, at a high level when needed, under very heavy distractions, and in the kindest way possible. I have a huge tool bag to choose from which means I'm excellent at customizing to the dog in front of me. It's in fact what I'm known for! I have worked with a lot of behavior mod, specializing in aggression, reactivity, and fearful dogs throughout my career, as well as competition dogs, protection dogs, service dogs and a wide range of pets with their various issues.
So often, trainers claim their experience based on the time they have owned their own dogs. But there is far more to training then teaching one or two dogs to be obedient. Or even to teaching a few people people to train their dogs. I have dedicated over 3 decades to learning how to best help my clients and have a wide range of experience! I don't just love the dogs, I love my clients and have spent decades learning the easiest ways to coach my handlers to be the best dog owners they can be, while having a ton of fun! Because there are professionals, and then there are professionals! When experience matters, we really have been trailblazers! I was open before alot of the made for television trainers were really known, before tik tok was even a thing, and in the days when you had to get down in the trenches, and that can make all the difference!
